The idea behind this strip came up after reading a series of interviews with Battlefield 3 executive producer Patrick Bach. Within the span of a month, during a blitz promotional tour for the game, Bach gave a number of interviews that, when pieced together, seemed to contradict one another. Add to that his strange claim that war is “good” and he quickly became a subject of interest to me, especially given the wide-ranging appeal of the Battlefield series.

So I lifted his dialogue, taken out of context from three interviews, and placed it outside the gamer website/video game convention setting–not to somehow ridicule Bach, but rather to show how absurd and naive the language surrounding mainstream gaming can be (this has become even more prevalent as game designers continue to take a more active role in marketing their products).

Here are the 3 interviews used. I highly recommend reading/watching them in their entirety:

* Patrick Bach, Interview (Aug. 30th, 2011)

** Patrick Bach, Interview (Aug. 1st 2011) (video)

*** Patrick Bach, INterview (Aug. 29th, 2011)
